Sunday Afternoon Live is pleased to present a bluegrass concert featuring North Country on Sunday February 23 at 2pm at the historic Raymond Theatre located at 323 3rd St. in Raymond WA.
Based out of Seattle, North Country bluegrass band is one of the premier traditional bluegrass bands from the Northwest. Founded in 2012, they create a unique chemistry and demonstrated the same love for music, songwriting and instrumental dynamics. They have toured with throughout the United States and Canada.
Members of the band include Norm Olsen on lead vocals and guitar, Zach Top on lead vocals and mandolin, Michael Kilby on fiddle, dobro and harmony vocals, Kent Powell on bass and harmony vocals, and Will McSeveney on banjo.
The son of Lisa and Phil Olsen, in South Bend Washington, Norm Olsen will be playing before his hometown audience as a virtuoso guitar player with an energetic rhythm. His passionate and solid voice brings a great vocal dynamic that sounds especially good on old country and folk songs. Acquiring his first guitar at the age of 13, shortly thereafter Olsen knew he wanted to pursue music for the rest of his life. Known by name, and as a local oyster farmer by trade, Olsen joined North Country after a jam session in early 2012. Olsen looks forward to sharing the musical aspect of his life in front of a hometown crowd made up of friends, acquaintances and new local fans.
Tickets are $15 at the door, or can be purchased in advance for $12 at the Raymond theater located at 323 3rd Street, the Raymond pharmacy and South bend pharmacy. Tickets are also available on PayPal at www.Sundayafternoonlive.org or by calling 360-836-4419. The show is sponsored by Michael & Diane O’Meagher, Bruce Baskin, D/A Davidson, Jeff & Kristine Nevitt, and Chen’s Restaurant.
North Country’s first album, titled Won’t Be Over You, was named a top 10 bluegrass album in 2014 by KCBS radio. The album demonstrated the band’s instrumental talent and songwriting ability as they bring classic country and folk music into a traditional bluegrass style. In October of 2015, the band was selected to showcase at the International Bluegrass Music Association in Raleigh, North Carolina.
